Citrus Fruit Festival (Sagra degli Agrumi)
The first weekend of April in Muravera will take place the 47th Citrus Fruit Festival (Sagra degli Agrumi).
The Citrus Fruit Festival is an important folkloric event that opens the Spring in the Sarrabus.
Created to make visitors aware of the importance of citrus cultivation in the territory, today it has become one of the most important festivals on the Island.
The most important day of the festival is Sunday morning, the day during which the parade comes to life.
Via Roma, the main street in the village, turns into a blaze of colors, scents, sounds and dances.
In fact, visitors will be able to admire the native costumes among the most beautiful in Sardinia and traditional masks including the Mamuthones of Mamoiada and the Thurpos of Orotelli.
But queens of the parade are the Etnotraccas, typical museum-carts that show some slices of life from the past of the Sarrabus communities.
Throughout the weekend, guided tours are organized in the citrus groves, book presentations and interesting exhibitions by local artisans.
There are many villagers who open the doors of their typical houses (case Campidanesi) to let visitors taste the local products.
